Who We Are

Hazelwood HOPE as a house church exists to model a truly beloved community in which God’s people worship in their homes, study with their neighbors, encourage, and care for one another in their daily lives, seeking to create a quality of life within the Greater Hazelwood community that is as rich, deep and hope-filled as that which God intends for all God’s children.

What is a House Church?

A house church is a small gathering of Christians that chose to meet regularly in member’s homes instead of a regular church building. This pattern of ministry is much like that found in the first century church when disciples gathered in the homes of believers ( Acts 5:42, 12:12, 16:40, 20:20; Romans 16:3-5, 23; 1 Corinthians 16:9; Colossians 4:15; Philemon 2).

This model of church ministry can be found throughout the world especially in countries where Christianity is forbidden or is an underground movement. The House Church Movement has moved to North America and many are embracing it as a return to early church structure and principles. Some who are engaged in developing new ministries embrace the house church model because it eliminates the hassle of church building maintenance.

Hazelwood HOPE became a house church by the will of God after much prayer and searching for a building to house the ministry.  We believe that this form of ministry allows us to create the kind of community that fosters spiritual growth and maturation. With an emphasis on Bible study and learning God’s word we commit ourselves to being the disciples that Jesus wants us to be.

Mission and Vision

Our mission is to connect people in the Greater Hazelwood community to God and help them to become fully developed disciples of Jesus Christ.

Our vision is to make the love of God known to every man, woman and child in the Greater Hazelwood community.

Core Values

Our core values are prayer, community and discipleship. These core values are based on our understanding of Jeremiah 31:1-6 (see our history) and God’s commitment to the Greater Hazelwood community. Based on the covenant made between God and ourselves we will initiate loving, nurturing relationships which create a sense of the beloved community in the Greater Hazelwood community where we will live out lives of discipleship to the glory of God.
